Sally-Ann James

General Counsel

Sally-Ann started her legal career in matrimonial and criminal and then moved into corporate transactional and commercial work, both in private practice.

Sally-Ann then moved in-house and joined The Co-operative Bank in 1993 undertaking a number of roles in the Legal Team, eventually becoming Head of Banking Contract & Commercial. In 2012, Sally-Ann became the first lawyer to join Metro Bank, becoming General Counsel in 2014. Sally-Ann joined Railpen as General Counsel in October 2021

Sally-Ann was the runner up In-House Lawyer of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2016 and winner of the Banking In-house individual of the year at The Legal 500 UK Awards 2017.
